Gearing Up For iRun

2016 Clover Ridge iRun Participants

Beginning Thursday January 5th, Clover Ridge students can participate in Running Club with Mrs. Smith and Ms. Stephens.  Participating students will meet each Tuesday and Thursday morning from 8:10 to 8:40 to practice, in preparation for the iRun event on March 11th.  The iRun, put on by Albany Public Schools Foundation, is a 5K/10 Mile race.  This year they are introducing a 1K Little Leprechaun Dash for Pre-K – 2nd grade students.

Permission slips are to be filled out when you drop off your child for their first Running Club practice.  Please arrive a few minutes early to complete the form.

We have received a grant that gives us the ability to pay the registration fee for students participating in the iRun.  If you would like to purchase a long sleeve iRun t-shirt, they are available for $15 a shirt, available in Youth and Adult unisex sizes.  Payment can me made to Clover Ridge.

2nd Semester Transfer Applications

2nd Semester Transfer Applications Open Until December 31st.

Parents,

If you are interested in applying for a 2nd Semester Transfer to another school, the on-line application link is now open and will close December 31st at 5:00 p.m.

To apply for a transfer you need to complete the on-line application which is located on our district website.

  • From the GAPS home page, click on the Parent Box to the right.
  • Click on the Information button.
  • Click on Transfer Requests near the bottom of the list.
  • Click on the 2016-17 Second Semester Transfer Applications button.
  • Click on the link to our on-line application.

There are several reasons a transfer request may be denied.  Those include overcrowding at the requested school, or if a student is failing to maintain minimum standards of attendance, behavior, or academics at their current school.  For more information about Student Assignment to schools please refer to School Board Policies JECA, JECB, and JECC.

On-line application for the 2017-18 school year open January 1st and closes February 28th.  If you have any questions about the transfer process you may contact the district office at (541) 967-4519 and ask to speak with Jennifer Hart.

Si usted está interesado en solicitar una transferencia para que su hijo/a asista a otra escuela durante el 2do semestre, la solicitud en el internet ya está abierto y cerrará el 31 de diciembre a las 5:00pm.

Para solicitar una transferencia, debe completar la solicitud en línea que se encuentra en nuestro sitio web del distrito escolar.

  • En la página principal de GAPS, marque en el recuadro del lado derecho “Parent” (padres).
  • Marque sobre el botón de “Information” (información).
  • Marque sobre “Transfer Requests” casi al final de la lista.

The Ridges Honor Veterans in City Parade

In what is becoming a tradition, families from Clover Ridge and Timber Ridge took part in Albany’s annual Veteran’s Day parade.  Students and families from both schools represented in school colors, and many family members who are also veterans wore military uniforms.

Thank you to all the students, parents and Veterans that joined our Clover Ridge and Timber Ridge Veteran’s Day float. It was great to have so many Ridges families participate to honor our country’s Veterans!

Clover Ridge Staff Sew Weighted Sensory Lap Pads for Students

Weighted sensory lap pads help kids center and concentrate, which can lead to improved learning.  Although very expensive to buy, Clover Ridge staff brought their talents and resources together to make 4 pads for student use.

Each pad measures approximately 15″ by 19″ and after being filled with poly pellets, weighs just under 3 pounds.

Students who can benefit from the use of weighted lap pads will now have them for use at Clover Ridge.

Veteran’s Day Parade 2016

Clover Ridge takes part in the 2015 Veteran’s Day Parade

Clover Ridge will once again be part of Albany’s Veteran’s Day Parade.  If you would like to be a part of this year’s celebration, be sure to return the permission slip that went home with your child last week by Tuesday 11/8.  Contact information (preferably email) is needed so our coordinators can let you know where we will be meeting on parade day.  If you have any questions, please call the school office.
